A.W. Jenkinson Forest Products and Stobart Group set up joint venture for the Biomass Market

A.W. Jenkinson Forest Products, the largest UK supplier of woodchip and bark products and Stobart Group Limited, the UK’s leading provider of multi-modal transport and logistics, have together formed a new joint venture, Stobart Biomass Products Limited.

The new company, Stobart Biomass Products Limited, has been created to source and distribute supplies of biomass fuel to the emerging UK renewable energy market, allowing A.W. Jenkinson Forest Products to concentrate on its traditional customer base. The biomass fuel sources will include low-grade virgin wood, arboricultural arisings, low-grade woodchips, woody greenwaste, recycled timber and refuse derived fuels both domestically-sourced and imported.

A.W. Jenkinson Forest Products has also secured a major transportation contract with Eddie Stobart Limited, which will provide substantial strategic synergies and the additional haulage resources which will be needed for Stobart Biomass Products Limited to serve the rapidly growing biomass market. Access to Stobart’s logistics network and brand strength will also allow A.W. Jenkinson Forest Products and Stobart Biomass Products Limited to further enhance their reputation amongst the large utility providers, which require long-term secure supply contracts.

The Stobart Biomass Products Limited management team will continue to operate from the A.W. Jenkinson Forest Products head office at Clifton in Cumbria, to which any enquiries should be addressed.
